Julian's Second Chance - Re-release of an oldie but goodie! FRIDAY, JULY 24!

BUY LINK
You know how you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. But we all do, right? Well, the original cover and title to this book were just never quite right! It was released a while back with Aspen Mountain Press under the title Masks of Emotion. The publisher and I agreed a face lift and a new name were just what this sexy novella needed to grab readers' attention.

It's a m/m erotic romance that received excellent reviews when it first came out last year, including 5 stars at Rainbow Reviews and an A from Simply Romance Reviews. I do hope you'll check it out! I'd love any comments on the new cover.

I will give away a copy of the newly released version to one of the commenters, sometime this weekend. (I'll be in Kansas at Carol Lynne's weekend, but I'm sure I'll be able to check in!)

CHECK IT OUT HERE!

  1. I love the cover. I choose almost all of my books by the cover first, and I really do like this one very much.

    Thanks-

  3. Hmmm I missed this one somewhere along the way ;) The cover looks great! And yes, I do admit, I do judge books by their cover. I know it isn't valid, but I equate the quality of a cover with the quality of the read... I know I have missed many a good read because of that :(

  4. I agree completely, the cover is such a selling point for me that I will avoid potentially good books with a not-so-great to awful cover. We all know that there are publishers out there that do better jobs than others. The other thing that drives me nuts is the "recycled" covers, where they use the same base photo and change it around a little. Really frustrating when I've already associated that pose & model with another character. Ok, that's my rant! ;)

On another note, I'm very jealous that you will also be at Carol Lynne's weekend! I've been over on her Yahoo group while the planning has been taking place. It sounds like a blast! Have a ton of fun!! And congrats on your new blog!

  5. Got going on my own agenda and forgot to say that I think it's a very evocative cover, really sucks you into the scene. I'll also be interested to see where the two different names came into play after I've read the book.

  7. I dig the new cover! Uncomplicated and gives you an idea of what's going on in the story.

  8. I do like the cover and the excerpt! To a point, I am attracted to covers. However, it is the blurb and author that really drag me in. There are authors, like you Claire, who are on my autoybuy list, when I am shopping for a new book.

  11. Continue with the newsletter. Newsletters have a different feel that I much prefer. Of course we all judge books by their cover. That's half the fun.

  17. Hi Claire, I like having both the blog and the newsletter, especially with goo-gle blogs, because there's no option to get email updates (as compared with yahoo blogs, where you can get something like every 25 messages mailed to you). Of course there are other advantages to goo0gle blogs, such as graphics. Also, some people just don't blog, so I think it's good to have both, or at least for a while to transition people.

    Love the covers!

  18. hey Claire, i never got a chance to see the original cover but i do find this one more appealing. Also as for the blog/newsletter thing .... i still think having both forms will entice more people to join because not everyone may like the blog thing.

  19. Claire, I have to admit that sometimes I do judge a book by the cover. But, mostly I judge the book by the little summary on the back. If the back blurb hooks my attention I will usually read the book, otherwise I might not. Sometimes it is just the author name that will make me start reading, then it's up to the story itself.

BTW, I also like the cover and will enjoy following your blog.

  22. I like newsletters. Sometimes I don't have the time to go and check blogs, so newsletters are quite handy.

  23. Somehow I missed this story when it first came out. So definitely wanting to read it this time around. And I too still like to receive newsletters. I like the quick updates and reminders.
